Kristina Karlsson – CEO kikki.K :: Australian retail with some Swedish finesse

Little did Karlsson know that she had just set foot in her new home and her idea would materialise into an international stationery retail business generating over $20 million in revenue. In the space of nine years, kikki.K has grown from a home-based business to a 22 store strong retail chain in Australia plus four stores in New Zealand. The ARA Retailer spoke with Kristina Karlsson to find out a little more about her secret to success.

With a resilient employment market, the skills shortage appears to be far from over and many retailers are perplexed by the difficulties they face in recruiting and retaining staff. Findings from the June 2008 ARA Australian Retailers’ Index revealed finding staff and staff retention were the prime concerns of 14 percent of retail businesses.
