NSW Labor Government announces a further reduction to workers’ compensation premiums if re-elected
The NSW Labor government has announced that if re-elected in the NSW state election, they will cut workers’ compensation premiums for NSW employers by a further 5%. This is as a result of the NSW WorkCover Scheme being in surplus by nearly $500 million as of December 2006.
Some of this surplus will also be used to assist workers in managing injuries that occur in the workplace. The reduction in premiums has been mooted to apply from 30 June 2007.
