To explain the new independent contracting laws to independent contractors, businesses and workers, the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations has commenced a national seminar series. Over 150 free seminars will take place in state capitals, regional centres and remote areas throughout March, April, May and June. People interested in attending must book at www.workplace. gov.au/contractors to receive venue details. Alternatively call 1300 667 850 from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday to make a booking.
DEWR has also established an Independent Contractors Hotline that operates from 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday on 1300 667 850.
