Transitional Awards are federal awards binding on non-constitutional corporations such as sole traders and partnerships. The AIRC is also responsible for adjusting allowances in both Transitional Awards and Pre-reform Awards applying to incorporated businesses.
What is the increase?
Key features of the decision are:
- An increase to the Federal Minimum Wage in transitional awards by $21.70;
- An increase to minimum wage rates in the transitional awards by $21.70; and
- A commensurate adjustment in wage-related allowances.
When will the increase take effect?
Draft orders served by the unions seek an operative date of the first pay period on or after 1 October 2008. The final orders issued by the AIRC will determine the actual operative date and members will be notified when this occurs.
